New York, 30 April 2026 — The Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the United Nations, Ambassador Zénon Mukongo Ngay, received Mr. Habib Ur Rehman Mayar, Deputy Secretary-General and Executive Director of the g7+ Foundation, on 30 April 2026 at the Permanent Mission of the DRC.
This meeting was held within the framework of exchanges between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and g7+, an intergovernmental organization of which the DRC is a member.
During the meeting, Mr. Habib Ur Rehman Mayar expressed the organization’s wish to strengthen its cooperation with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and to participate in the activities that the DRC will organize in the framework of its presidency of the Security Council, scheduled for July 2026.
g7+ is an intergovernmental organization composed of countries affected by conflict and situations of fragility. It brings together 20 Member States, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, from Asia, Africa, the Pacific and the Caribbean. These countries share a common vision based on peace, stability, resilience, development, and due consideration of the specific realities of fragile and conflict-affected States.
During this audience, Ambassador Zénon Mukongo Ngay reaffirmed the DRC’s commitment to a multilateral diplomacy attentive to the challenges faced by countries affected by conflict and fragility. As a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, and ahead of its presidency of the Council in July 2026, the DRC intends to continue its commitment to peace, international security and sustainable development.
