New York, 23 April 2026 – The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia and Somalia reaffirmed, on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at the United Nations Security Council, their firm commitment to Haiti’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, while renewing their support for a coherent, balanced and Haitian-led response to the crisis facing the country.
Read by Ambassador Zénon Mukongo Ngay, Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the United Nations, the A3 statement underscored that the situation in Haiti calls for a credible path toward peace, stability, inclusive governance and sustainable development.
The A3 urged international partners to align their assistance with nationally defined priorities and to mobilize predictable resources needed to address the country’s critical needs. They stressed the importance of better coordinated international support, respectful of national ownership and capable of sustainably backing Haitian efforts.
Taking note of the Secretary-General’s report presented during the 10144th meeting of the Security Council, the A3 welcomed the continued engagement of the United Nations through the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH), whose action remains essential in supporting the political process, strengthening institutions and promoting stability in the country.
The A3 further noted that Haiti has entered a decisive political phase, marked by the preservation of institutional continuity and the emergence of a new momentum toward the restoration of institutional order.
Through this statement, the A3 reaffirmed their conviction that the response to the Haitian crisis must remain centered on the aspirations of the Haitian people and supported by a coherent, supportive and sovereignty-respecting international commitment.
