New York, March 30, 2026 — The Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the United Nations, Ambassador Zénon Mukongo Ngay, was received on Monday, March 30, 2026, by H.E. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State and Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, in charge of relations with the European Union and the United Nations in New York and Geneva.
The discussions focused on developments in the regional security situation, as well as on the draft resolution currently under negotiation, initiated by the Kingdom of Bahrain on behalf of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), concerning the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
On that occasion, the United Arab Emirates presented its approach and requested the support of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in its capacity as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, for this draft resolution currently under negotiation.
For its part, the Democratic Republic of the Congo reiterated its steadfast commitment to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, respect for international law, and the peaceful settlement of disputes. It also indicated that it would seek instructions from the capital on the matter.
